It is difficult to get lost on St Barts as all roads go back to the place you were before! (a line from Hotel California) Open Google Maps and search for Villa Henson, St Barthélemy. Find the villa from anywhere on St Barts!
From the airport
Out of the airport turn right and drive up *to the roundabout. Take the first exit, signposted "Colombier" (NOT the little road back down to the private airport). After about 1.5 kilometers, keep left at the junction then continue, past the boulangerie "Le Petit Colombe" (on left) and down the hill. After half a kilometer and a short, sharp drop down, (The video clip above begins at this point) you will see in front of you, on the right-hand side of the road, a long yellow fronted bar, La Pigeonniere.
JUST BEFORE the bar, turn left. The house on the corner has a green wall. This road takes you up through the small village of Colombier. The road turns right then bends left and climbs up. As you get near the top the main road bends right and that is a dead-end! So just before that you will see a high stone wall and a smaller road straight ahead going up This is the entrance to the family Domaine. Take this road and at the top, you pass a villa on your left, then there is a short dirt track then descend to the Villa Henson on a concrete road. Watch out for the Tortoises.
From the Port of Gustavia
Turn left out of the port parking and continue on the main road. After about 1 kilometer or less, the road climbs up a short winding part to a roundabout. From this point follow the directions above -"...*to the roundabout...". but take the 3rd exit signposted "Colombier".
If you turn right, out of the parking you will pass through the center of Gustavia and probably along the quayside. You will arrive at a 'T' junction. Turn left and follow that long road. At the very top of the main road turn right, which will take you to the roundabout above the airport. From this point follow the directions above -"...*to the roundabout..."
Turning right at the "T" junction at the end of the port will take you towards the post office and right again to the Town Hall and a museum. The road just turns back to the center and to the hospital, which is at the very end of this road. The hospital can also be reached driving straight on from the post office.
Around the Island
You will no doubt explore the island by car. You can continue past the airport towards St Jean and just drive. Follow the signs to Lorient and at the next junction choose Marigot (and then come back) or continue on to Grand Fond passing Grand and Petit cul de Sac. Continue past Grand Fond, a stony wild beach, and you will drive into the hills. The beach of Saline is nearby (signposted left at the junction and left again). Returning from Saline, take either first left and this will take you to Gustavia past the Carl Gustav hotel or straight on back to St Jean.
